The Broken Belt Arrestor (belt catcher / anti-drop device) is an emergency safety assembly installed on downhill, high-incline or high-lift belts: if the belt fractures, slips or runs away, its dual wedge jaws clamp both sides of the belt and lock it to the frame, stopping the loaded belt from running back and dropping material onto the return run or structure. A welded steel bolt-down base, optional zero-speed/speed switch for automatic triggering and heavy wedge clamping make it a fail-safe last line of protection where a belt failure would otherwise cause a serious runaway or falling-belt hazard on mining, port, power plant and inclined conveyors.
